Camus 2013 – Registration formfehér bar

On the occasion of Albert Camus’ centennial birthday, the Centre Interuniversitaire d’Études Françaises (CIEF), the Department of French Studies and the Doctoral School of Literature of  Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest), in collaboration with the Department of the Theory of Art at the University of Drama and Film (Budapest) invite students (on the BA, MA or on the PhD level) to participate in a student conference on the work of Albert Camus.

This international conference, organised exclusively for students, proposes to open a discussion on the unfading relevance of Camus’ work. One hundred years after his birth, the next generation of literary theorists, critics and historians, as well as linguists, philosophers, playwrights and directors will have the opportunity to study and relish the writings and thoughts of one of the greatest intellectual figures of the 20th century. Is it true that his oeuvre has not become obsolete? What is the relevance of his writings for young people in the early 21st century?

It is time to reread Camus: the floor is yours! Papers on literary, linguistic, philosophical, theoretical and political topics will equally be welcome.

A non-exhaustive list of some suggested topics:

The language of Camusian writing

Camus, the man of the theater

Camus, the philosopher and essayist

Camus, the politician and journalist

Camus, the reader of others

The reception of Camus

(Re) reading and rewriting Camus
